Dude. You don’t seem to be injured. I can only begin to imagine what kind of crap is on the soles of your shoes. People generally SIT on the seats in subway train cars…what makes you think people want the drek on the bottom of your shoes transferred to the bottom of their pants or skirt?

Maybe your mother let you put your feet up on furniture when you were growing up. If I had to guess, she’d probably be pretty embarrassed to see you behaving like that.

And how kind of you to take up two seats! I thought that was super cool. Big turn on. Totes a big tough guy. It’s not like anyone was standing up, in need of a seat on which to sit down.

I was so impressed I found two awesome ladies who I think would be PERFECT for you.

She needed three seats. She’s wearing shorts too! V. modest.

At least the bottom of her foot isn’t on the seat, right?

In the midst of Old Jews Telling Jokes completing previews and officially opening, I think I neglected to process the fact that Kristen Wiig won’t be returning to SNL next year. I have admired her since her SNL debut. I will miss her jaw-dropping magnificence each week. She is irreplaceable. Yesterday, I showed Bill one of my favorite characters Kristen created—Virgania Horsen:

A very fond farewell to the amazing Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis (if this was in fact his last season) too.

It is Wednesday June 6, 2012, and I am at the Westside in between the matinee and the evening performances. The theater is quiet as Todd takes a nap on the cot, and Audrey eats her supper before we get ready to do it again. It’s almost three weeks since we’ve opened, and the show continues to be as fresh and fun as ever. A Wednesday matinee is usually a slightly smaller and more reserved crowd. Still fun, but just a little quieter. However, this particular matinee was unlike anything that I have ever experienced.

Before we had even finished the opening number, we were greeted with several incredibly hearty laughs, a few screams, and some very generous applause. I wondered if this generosity would ebb with the first few jokes, but I was very mistaken. On the contrary, the audience’s enthusiasm seemed to grow with each joke! Ten minutes into the show, Audrey and I pass each other quickly backstage. As we squeeze passed each other she whispered, “Don’t we have the best job EVER?”

“Absolutely,” I whisper back. Three roaring jokes later, Lenny comes offstage, shrugs and says, “This is work?” I felt exactly the same way. I know that I speak for everyone when I say that it is a gift to come to “work” every day. It is a blessing to be a part of such an ensemble, and it is a privilege to perform to such generous audiences. There is simply nothing more contagious than laughter. Anyone who has seen the show has seen me lose it and break at least once. The baffling part is that I hear almost all of the jokes every single night, and I still break. I mean, I went to acting school; shouldn’t I at least be able to hold it together? Apparently not. Frankly, Marilyn’s sheep continues to kill me, and she knows it! I think that she is purposefully trying to make me laugh, and it is working… that minx.

Absolutely loved the show - great cast and am so glad it embraces the web site but adds so much to it. Old Man River will never sound the same to me again. Thank you for a night filled with laughter and cadences I have missed. It was a mitzvah!
